Monday's Not Coming Home

By Tiffany D. Jackson
Everything about this book is so important. From page one to page 448.
I must warn you that this book is not for the light hearten. This book contains pain and hardships of reality. This book is like a hard pill to swallow because you know it can only end one way. Claudia is young girl living in the D.C area. Her best friend, soul mate and sister, Monday, has gone missing. No one is looking for Monday. Expect Claudia. Claudia walks us through her story of find her Monday. Every chapter you get closer but you also lose something in return.
How many times have I been in Claudia place? How many of my friends faced a trouble and I never notice? Or really listened to them?
Books like these really get to my soul. I can relate so well to Claudia it hurts. I had sought out help from my schools but no one took the time to notice my struggles. No one takes you serious at Claudia's age and that's one of the many problems with this world. I was fortunate to have a few friends, where Claudia was not. Now that I finished the book I can finally understand the time lines. While reading the book I did get lost in the different time periods almost throughout the entire book. I really enjoyed the style of this book regardless because of the powerful message. There were times were I was very frustrated at the Claudia for being so native. The ways she convinced herself that her friend was fine. How she held on so tight to Monday that she didn't ever consider her feeling and thoughts. I was upset at her family for loving Monday so and yet only looking out for their own. I must say it was hard to put down this book. Even at 4:30 am with tear streaked face I continued on. No one is perfect and I really believe Claudia is such a strong girl. She's smart, brave and unstoppable.
