On A Sun Beam

By Tillie Walden
The story takes place far into the future at an all girl boarding school. This is a coming of age story about a young girl named Mia. Mia has always been the adventurous type, never letting much stop her being her self. During her school days she meets a young girl named Grace. They quickly become close and take on day to day troubles together. The story does jump ahead to the future, where Mia is now staring a new job as a reconstruction employee. At first, I wasn't a fan of Mia. I couldn't get over how much of a brat she was. But, as the story progressed I came to understand that she is just a girl trying to find her place in the world. The artwork for this book was just so gorgeous. The style was consistent and the colors are so calming. The first half of the book was a bit slow. I understood the need to plot build but it just seemed to really drag on. The world only consist of women which I found to be pretty awesome. I love that this is not a very traditional book. Not even in the slightness. I'm glad I didn't put this one down, because towards the end you won't want to put it down.
